Feature Finder |
||
Description:This RCO is used when an instructor has a set of images containing features which may require some background knowledge or previous training to recognize. For example, being able to distinguish an iceberg from clouds in a satellite image created by sensing energy at infrared wavelengths. The instructor will gather a set of images, and for each must first create a second, "answer" image with the feature in question highlighted. This is needed to show users the correct answer after an attempt has been made to identify the feature. The instructor can use common image manipulation applications to create these, such as Photoshop or The GIMP. The sample XML file provided below must be populated with appropriate data (filenames, ancillary information about the images, etc.) and placed in the same location as the HTML file used to access and present this RCO. Note this RCO uses another RCO as a sub-component. It uses the Info Panel RCO to display tips, instructions, or other information relevant to the learning activity designed around this RCO. Please review the online documentation for information on how to configure and use Info Panel. Example usage:This link will bring up a separate browser window with a page that uses this RCO.
