2023 Great Lakes Operational Meteorology Workshop
Weather in the Great Lakes area poses interesting and unique challenges for forecasting. This workshop is designed to bring operational meteorologists of all experience levels together to address these challenges and to share knowledge, experience, and techniques. Meteorologists, hydrologists, students, and others interested in operational weather forecasting and meteorology, in and near the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada, are encouraged to give presentations and attend. Topics will include lake effect snow forecasting, winter storms, severe convection, flooding and flash flooding, marine forecasting, aviation forecasting, and climatology. Presentations on case studies, research findings, technological advances, meteorological decision support, observations, and customer service are all welcome.
This year’s meeting will be held in room 313 at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St, on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus on 24 – 25 May 2023. Paid parking is available at the State Street Parking Garage (usually entering on the Lake Street side). Lunch can be found at the carts on Library Mall, at the Memorial Union and its Terrace, or down State Street. No food/leftovers can be brought into the Pyle Center; however, drinks are allowed.
