Human Resources
By Jenny Hackel
Hi All. The Human Resources Design project is looking for feedback on the phase one draft recommendations. These recommendations are aimed at changing our policies and procedures regarding to important issues such as pay, benefits, hiring, etc. The first draft recommendations can be found here:
http://hrdesign.wisc.edu/work-team-draft-recommendations/
Feedback on those recommendations can be given here:
https://www.ohrd.wisc.edu/OHRDCatalogPortal/Default.aspx?tabid=46&EventSurveyID=4234
This is NOT a comprehensive list, but just to highlight a few hot button issues available for feedback:
- Employee Categories is proposing to move all classified staff to become academic staff.
- Benefits is proposing to combine personal holiday and vacation leave, and reduce the annual carryover for that type of leave to 40 hours per year. Leave benefits would be the same between academic and classified staff. A new structure for earning leave time is also outlined in their case study.
- Recruitment and Assessment is proposing an internal recruitment option that for some recruitments, external applicants would not be eligible to apply for those positions.
- Compensation is suggesting a market-based approach to compensation and advocates performance based adjustments.
To obtain more information about the recommendations, please visit the top link above and "download the full report." The reports for each team are lengthy. Feedback on these recommendations is due by the end of this month. There are some pretty major suggestions that would have an impact on nearly everyone.
I highly encourage that you take the time to do a little reading and lend your support and/or criticism for the proposed changes. If you have questions about this project, please email as.reps@ssec.wisc.edu (SSEC academic staff governance reps). We're happy to discuss this with you.
