Outreach Out West
The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) has two new new partnerships: The Space Foundation in Colorado Springs and the National Park Service (NPS) at the Grand Canyon.
Patrick Rowley and Margaret Mooney from CIMSS visited both locations in early November when Rowley led educational trainings at the NOAA Science on a Sphere (SOS) exhibit at each site. Attendees included volunteer docents, professional educators and NPS interpreters.
Content for the trainings focused on resources from the CIMSS EarthNow blog, a project funded by the NOAA Environmental Literacy Grant program. Lively discussions followed all sessions of both trainings. CIMSS harvested suggestions for the EarthNow project and attendees left energized by their improved SOS skills.
