Upgrade Cover Letter

The McIDAS-X and -XCD version 2007 upgrades are now available. You can obtain
the software from the McIDAS Users' Group Web Site (https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mcidas).
Use the login and password included in your site coordinator's cover
letter to download the software from the web site. See the upgrade
procedure documents for complete installation instructions.
The significant changes for McIDAS-X version
2007 (distributed 25 May 2007) include the following:
- added support of McIDAS-X on Apple Mac OS X 10.4 Intel systems
- moved support of McIDAS-X on Linux systems to Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 4.0
- moved support of McIDAS-X on Sun Solaris systems to Solaris 10
SPARC and x86 editions
- added beta version of new command ADT that estimates tropical cyclone
intensity using the Advanced Dvorak Technique with infrared satellite
imagery
- added new keyword ENSEMBLE= to GRDCOPY, GRDDISP, GRDIMG, GRDINFO
and GRDLIST commands
- updated WWDISP and WWLIST commands for recent VTEC implementations
and to accommodate Areal Flood Warnings sent in FLS products
- updated GRIB server to support GRIB2 files from the NOAAPORT data
stream
- added servers for real-time segmented MTSAT data in HRIT format
- updated POES Level 1b servers to work with NOAA-18 data
- added two new commands, 19 new data files, and four new servers
to McIDAS-XRD 2007 sidecar package
- fixed 52 bugs and completed 16 enhancements from the MUG Inquiry
System
The significant changes for McIDAS-XCD version 2007 (distributed 04 June 2007) include the following:
- updated McIDAS-X GRIB server to work with GRIB2 files (as well as GRIB1 files)
- added new batch file, XCDGRB2.BAT, to create ADDE dataset names for known GRIB2 data
- added GRIB2NAV command for use in creating additional GRIB2 datasets by extracting navigation information from the GRIB2 files
- updated PIREP decoder to search for "MOD" as well as "MDT" for moderate turbulence and icing
