REDIRECT Precedence

Files that are redirected with the McIDAS-X REDIRECT command, have precedence over files defined by MCPATH. This lets you explicitly state the location of a particular file. For example, if MCPATH is set to:

/home/experiment:/home/fred/data:~mcidas/data:~mcidas/help

and each of these directories contains a file named AREA0001, McIDAS commands that use the file (IMGDISP, for example) will use the one in /home/experiment if the file is not redirected to another directory. However, if you have the redirection entry:

AREA00* /home/dave/aircraft/data

the McIDAS command uses the file AREA0001 stored in /home/dave/aircraft/data instead of a MCPATH directory.
