DNB analysis of Ridgecrest

Posted: July 5, 2019

After the M6.4 earthquake on 4 July , Southern California Edison reported about 6,900 customers experienced power outages due to the earthquake. As of the morning of 5 July all power had been restored to the affected customers. Utilizing reference imagery from 3 July, which had similar light conditions and was relatively clear, as seen below

A comparison was done to a near nadir pass from NOAA-20 at ~2:37am PDT on 5 July. As can be seen below, while there was some scattered thin clouds in the region

the DNB imagery does verify that there were no lingering outages in the Ridgecrest region

There is a possibility of a larger quake in the coming days or outages due to the large number of aftershocks.
