Mission Overview
Included below is a listing of the various phases/aspects and their objectives for the MBE mission.
1. Highest-Priority Pointed Phase
- Duration: 4 months
- Objective: locate and study missing baryons
- Observations: single pointing or series of pointings
2. All-Sky Survey
- Duration: 6 months
- One complete survey of entire sky
- Instrument scans circles advancing ~3.7' per orbit
3. Second Pointed Phase
- Duration: 7 months
- Includes 2 months of Guest Observer (GO) Program
4. Phase F
- If cryogen remains after second pointed phase
- Up to four more months entirely GO Program
5. National E/PO Program
- Experienced E/PO team of educators & scientists
- MBE Science aligned with education standards
- Targeted involvement of underserved communities
